I find myself actually wanting to write for fun now, which is a completely foreign idea to me (but one I should familiarize myself with, given my intended major and career). I've also seemed to make a real talent out of writing papers for my classes in less than two hours, and focusing my efforts on the pieces I write for my own purposes. Not that this is a good habit to get into, but it's one I've explored, nonetheless.
I think it's been a lovely distraction from the fact that I miss Matt a lot. Between trying to complete my classwork, working at the phone center, attempting to get my transcripts together, and trying to get all of my ideas out on paper, I only seem to talk to him once the sun goes down–a far cry from seeing him every weekend and talking all day. The nice thing is, the time zone difference hasn't gotten in the way of anything–besides, perhaps, my ability to get a full-night's sleep (who needs that anyway?)
I did have the chance to catch Best Coast tonight (I drove to Cleveland in the first place to see Male Bonding, but we JUST missed them. wah wah wahhhh). She/they put on what might have been a semi-decent show, though she seemed somewhat drunk and kept stopping in the middle of the song to bitch about the sound levels. Upon the conclusion of her set, she stormed off the stage with no foreseeable intention of returning for an encore. Good thing the guys from Male Bonding cut me a deal on buying their LP and t-shirt together, complete with a sloshy singer modeling each size for me to ensure I made the right selection. It made the trip out worthwhile–though it was already fun to have a girls' night with my of-age cohorts. All in all, I'm satisfied with the evening, though perhaps I should have demanded a refund to pay for my gas money.
