Inception

WHERE DO I BEGIN?

Matt and I went to see Inception on opening day, expecting brilliance. What we did not expect was a mind-blowing, new favorite film.

The plot centers around Leonardo DiCaprio as Dom Cobb, the troubled hero who is able to enter the dreams of others to snatch ideas from their subconsciouses. In an effort to retire his exotic career and return to his family, Cobb assembles a team to do the impossible: plant an idea in the deepest part of a man's mind, so he may believe the idea is his own.

This star-studded crew includes Ellen Page as "The Architect" Ariadne and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Cobb's associate, Arthur. The sexual tension between them was undeniable, and I rooted for that to come to fruition throughout the length of the film. My desire to see them in a steamy, physics-defying love scene was denied–though Arthur's badass, zero-G fight scenes completely made up for the lack of romance with sheer, flying testosterone.

The script is nothing short of spectacular. Christopher Nolan lured the viewer into the layers of dreams like a lab rat in a maze, only to drop a wall in front of the satisfying cheese of a happy, tidy ending. The viewer is left to draw his own conclusion, which made everyone in the theatre shout at the screen...followed by a round of applause.

I suppose Matt's summary says it all: "best. film. ever."

Enjoy flying Joseph Gordon-Levitt...I know I did.

RECOMMENDATION: Put down whatever it is you are doing, and see this movie PRONTO. This mental rubix cube is the stuff dreams are made of...no pun intended?
